ACTION 2012: Social Renewal

Posted on

Following the success of ACTION 2011: Sustainability, through which Newcastle University’s researchers addressed challenges of sustainability both now and in the future by developing commercial solutions to provide an impact, the ACTION Team are launching ACTION 2012: Social Renewal.

The ACTION 2012: Social Renewal programme provides a basis for research staff and postgraduate researchers to come together, outside of their existing research, to explore a societal challenge. Small teams work together, on a project that will engage them with the concepts of enterprise and research impact to address an issue under the social renewal theme – How can people, communities and societies thrive in a world of rapid and complex change? It encourages you to get away from your desk, collaborate and think like an entrepreneur so that you develop a commercial approach to your research. The winning team will be awarded £2,000 per member to be spent on their entrepreneurial development, or the commercial development of their idea.

If you are interested in attending the launch to find out more, please join us for lunch.

Launch event: Tuesday 21 February 2012, 12-2pm, HaSS Postgraduate Training Suite, 7th floor, Daysh Building
