THe Wellcome Trust has recently launched its 2012 Science Writers Competition.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone considering moving into science journalism or science communication. All you have to do is write an 800 word article on any area of science, suitable for publication in The Guardian or The Observer.
Our top tip for entrants is to think carefully about your audience. One of the most common pieces of feedback from editors is the basic (and brutal!) “so what?”. So put some careful thought into why their readership should care about your article before you start drafting.
The deadline for entries is 25th April, so there’s still plenty of time to get your creative juices flowing. More information below!
