CV and Rise-Up Interns – opportunities for PG researchers in the Careers Service

Each year the Careers Service recruit part-time interns to work throughout the year in key roles within the Careers Service team. These opportunities are a great way to supplement your income while developing a range of skills and experience, particularly in working on a 1:1 basis with our students and graduates. Details of both roles are outlined below.

 

CV Interns 

The award-winning Careers Service at Newcastle University is looking to recruit part-time CV interns to work from September 2011 until March 2012. Each intern will work a minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 hours per week. Interns will provide 1:1 CV and covering letter feedback to students and graduates of all degree disciplines and all academic stages as part of a drop-in service, via e-mail and at Careers Service events.

Applicants will be qualified to at least degree level or equivalent and must be a Newcastle University postgraduate student throughout the academic year 2011/12. They will have experience of giving 1:1 advice in a workplace or voluntary setting. They will be enterprising, self-motivated individuals with excellent written English and oral communication skills. The ability to deal sensitively with students and graduates is essential, as is the ability to motivate. The successful applicants will be flexible and have a proven record of reliability.

Salary: £7.99 per hour (including holiday pay)

Rise-Up Interns
 
The award-winning Careers Service at Newcastle University has an exciting opportunity available for those with an interest in enterprise and entrepreneurship. Its Rise Up Team is looking to recruit part-time interns throughout the 2011-12 academic year, working a maximum of 15 hours per week. 

The successful applicants will be registered Newcastle University students throughout the 2011/12 academic year. We are looking to recruit a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate students.  They will be self-motivated individuals with excellent communication, planning and organising and team-working skills. They will also have an ability to deal sensitively with students and graduates, and have a flair for motivating others. Flexible and with a proven record of reliability, they will be willing to experiment and learn by doing.

Salary: £7.99 per hour (including holiday pay)
Closing Date: 27 May 2011
