Teaching as a Postgraduate Researcher – Conference at Newcastle 14th March 2011

The School of Historical Studies will be hosting a visit by the History Subject Centre (based at Warwick University).  They will be holding a free, full-day event on Teaching as a Postgraduate Researcher. Students in Arts and Humanities subjects other than History are also welcome to participate. 

The day will provide a solid grounding for students who are just starting to teach as well as for those wanting to refine their teaching skills.   The event will be divided between informational sessions and workshop sessions.

Informational sessions will include:

  • How and Where to Find Teaching
  • Understanding your Students
  • Virtual Learning Environments and eLearning
  • Lecturing and Large-group Teaching
  • The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Career Development

Workshop sessions will include:

  • Small-group Teaching
  • Assessment, Marking and Feedback
